THE TACAMO FOUNDATION

Letter from the Chairman of the Board

TACAMO Community,

I would like to announce the TACAMO Community Veterans Association (TCVA) established The TACAMO Foundation (TTF) in November 2024.  TTF is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to educate the Nation’s public on the history of the Navy’s Strategic Deterrence Mission and the vital role the TACAMO Mission contributes to our country’s national security.  The Foundation will provide support to the TCVA through educational opportunities, assist in public outreach programs, and provide scholarships to students associated with the TACAMO Community.

I am honored to have been selected as the Chairman for the stand up of The TACAMO Foundation and look forward to growing the Foundation along with the Foundation Board Members.  We have a very knowledgeable and determined group of Board Members to include Vern Lochausen, John Alger, George Davis, and Randy Mahoney.

We had an exciting 2024 with the establishment of the Foundation and TCVA’s first presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award (LAA) to VADM Nora Tyson, USN (Ret).  During the presentation of the LAA, the Foundation was presented with the first enduring donation that established the VADM Nora Tyson Scholarship, a new scholarship that will be awarded in 2025 and for years to come.

I am glad to report that 2025 has started off just as exciting.  The Foundation has received the first legacy donation, a donation that is made as part of an individual’s will or trust.  Additionally, the Foundation will award a total of 6 scholarships this year to deserving TACAMO Community applicants.  Our goal is to continue to increase the number of available scholarships and continue to support our community in meeting the growing cost of higher education.

Whether you are a TACAMO Shipmate, Veteran, Family Member, Civil Service, or an Industry Partner, the TCVA and Foundation appreciate your service and support of the TACAMO Mission.  We are proud to be part of the team and look forward to continuing to serve our TACAMO Community.

Take Charge And Move Out.

CAPT Tony Barnes, USN (Ret)
